born at sea aboard the infamous lady infernal, sigrid has spent her entire life in search of the plundering glory & infamy that gave meaning to a pirate’s life. she took to the axe like a babe to a bottle, and learned very quickly what it was like to dodge both cannonballs and bullets—usually at the same time. the life was fast and full of thrill. being a part of her mother's crew—the sanguine sirens, one of the most vicious crews in vylbrand—it felt like she was on top of the world itself. that she could conquer the sea herself and tell the tides where to flow.that was, until the decree. like many of the other crews in limsa lominsa, the sirens found themselves stagnating—unsure of what their fates would be whilst merlwyb ushered in the new era of peace. that meant no more blunderbusses to load, cannons to fire, or ships to raid. when the admiral outlawed piracy, it seemed like the end of all she ever held dear. her very way of life needed to change—and she wasn’t ready for it.she wasn’t ready to stop. the wind was still in her sails, whispering in her ear.she thought the seas still called to her, but all she needed to do was look up—for it wasn’t the tides calling, but the clouds.and so, she took a chance. the seas have masters—those who dictate what one can or cannot do along its borders;but the skies… no one governs the skies.taking all of the fortune she had amassed during her years of plundering, she followed the wind. chasing whispers and rumors of pirates who flew ships in the skies, she felt like a child hoping the heroes of a bedtime story were true. but they were.she took an airship to ishgard, where at the behest of an old friend—carvallain de former durendaire—she spent her life’s fortune on the largest airship money could buy. she began by bartering and trading, one of her specialties from her time as a siren. before long, she was signing trade agreements and import contracts, making friends and business partners with the redbills and other sky crews alike. the grand dame had become more than just her ship—it had become a premier trading company.and she had done it all on her own, with no captain to follow, decrees to yield to, nor waves crashing against her hull.she had realized that all along, she was always meant to be wherever the wind blows.… and wherever the coin is good.

sigrid will almost exclusively call people she knows by their last names. she's also notoriously bad at pronouncing anything that isn't lominsan.
when she was quartermaster of the sirens she was known for never spending a single piece of Gil unless she absolutely needed to, and also for holding on to niche keepsakes in hopes that one day they’ll go up in value— which after practicing that belief for decades, has left her with a bit of a hoarding problem. if it isn’t evident by the state of her captain’s quarters.
she has an entire collection of miniature airships. her favourite is the enterprise, due to its fuel efficiency— yes it’s a terribly nerdy reason to like a ship. she knows.
she absolutely adores playing dumb. it's always gotten her the upperhand in her dealings, despite the fact that she's practically the next lord lolorito.
having been placed in so many precarious situations while learning how to pilot and repair her airship, it became clear that sigrid has quite the mind for engineering. in fact, she was consulted by garlond ironworks for construction of the excelsior.
despite having chosen to live in ishgard due to the skysteel factory and its proximity to the sea of clouds, she will always complain about the cold. if you see her take a single step outdoors you will not hear the end of it.
